One weak area on the Subaru EJ series engines is Subaru’s use of the plastic Bakalite cam gear drive pulleys. Over time, these become brittle and eventually fail causing catastrophic failure and internal engine damage.

Avoid this by fitting the RCM alloy camshaft pulleys which are manufactured in aluminum giving you total peace of mind.
