Want to keep your Subaru alive as long as possible?
While most people will tell you the only way to get a reliable Subaru is to either sell it or spend huge amounts of money swapping out every part, that is not necessarily the case. The team at Touge Tuning has been building reliable Subarus that get driven hard for years, and we’ve put together a combo for all the things your Subaru needs to give it the best chance at lasting as long as possible!
IAG AIR / OIL SEPARATOR (AOS)
PROTECTION FOR YOUR ENGINE
The IAG Air/Oil Separator (AOS) is a smart investment to safeguard and improve your Subaru’s performance. Developed over years of rigorous testing on various standard and competitive applications, the IAG AOS provides unmatched protection for your 2015-2021 Impreza WRX engine. Our exclusive AOS design incorporates a 1-liter cast aluminum swirl pot canister that significantly improves oil separation from the PCV system before returning PCV gasses to the intake. The durable and lightweight aluminum housing provides improved ventilation, while incorporating the use of an intelligent baffle design that sets it apart from the competition. It works with all fuel types, prolongs engine lifespan, enhances crankcase ventilation, and seamlessly integrates with standard ECU settings.
PREVENTS OIL FROM ENTERING THE INTAKE
Oil entering the engine’s intake tract can result in a range of adverse effects. Preventing oil from entering the engine intake is crucial to prevent premature mechanical problems and to maintain optimal performance in your Subaru. The oil can coat the internal components of the intake, intercooler and plumbing, which can lead to the deterioration of the rubber and silicone hoses, eventually compromising the connections. Once inside the intake tract, the oil can access the intake manifold and then the engine’s combustion chamber, potentially triggering detonation, pre-ignition, excessive emissions, smoke, power loss, reduced fuel efficiency, and even engine damage or complete engine failure.
MAINTENANCE FREE
The IAG Air/Oil Separator was designed for ease of use and unlike ordinary catch-can systems, our Air Oil Separators work without the need for routine draining or maintenance. The separated oil collects along the walls of the AOS can, then drains gradually into the engine’s crankcase. The oversized AOS body allows the oil to drain slowly, eliminating the risk of overflow often seen in smaller catch cans. Our exclusive heating system ensures that the gathered oil remains free of sludge, reducing the possibility of reintroducing it back into the engine.
HOW DOES THE AOS FUNCTION AND WHAT’S INSIDE?
The IAG Air Oil Separator uses a unique baffle system to collect and drain the oil from your engine’s PCV gasses back to the crankcase. The AOS body’s inlet hoses create an internal gas vortex, which then filters through the baffles, trapping the oil and allowing the gas to escape from the top of the AOS canister. Because the OEM PCV remains functional, the engine is also able to provide additional vacuum, which helps to remove more of the PCV gasses.
LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN
The IAG Air Oil Separator is constructed from a lightweight, yet durable aluminum housing that is even lighter than any of our previous versions. Whether you drag race or take your Subaru to the track, we know that every little bit of weight counts. This AOS design has been lightened and refined to maximize the overall performance of your Subaru, ensuring you get the most out of every race or track day.
CUTS DOWN ON CONDENSATION BUILDUP
The IAG Air Oil Separator incorporates the use of its exclusive heating system to eliminate problems found in lesser quality catch cans. Poorly designed versions allow hot PCV gasses to pass through the cold passageway, allowing for condensation to mix with the oil and cause sludge. IAG’s upgraded design attaches to the vehicle’s cooling system, allowing heat from the engine to transfer into the AOS canister. By heating the AOS canister to the engine’s temperature, condensation and associated buildup are significantly diminished or completely eliminated.
SAE QUICK CONNECTION LINES
IAG’s Air Oil Separator includes a full set of custom length SAE Quick Connection lines that simplify the installation of the AOS system, as well as reduce the chance of leakage because they offer a more reliable and secure connection than basic hose clamps. Once installed, our AOS system has a polished factory-like appearance that blends seamlessly with your Subaru’s engine.
EASY INSTALLATION
Our engineers set out to make the system as easy to install as possible for the 2006-2007 Subaru Impreza WRX and 2004-2007 STI. The connection hoses at the canister are custom fitted SAE Quick Connection lines that are the exact length to reach the corresponding engine parts. The IAG Air Oil Separator also includes pre-cut and crimped hoses on applicable Subaru models. The IAG AOS is available in your choice of black, red or neon yellow to perfectly accentuate the engine bay of your Subaru.
Killer B Ultimate FA20 Oil Pickup
The OEM pickup screen is crimped in a retainer and that assembly is spot welded into the pickup ‘can’. There are a couple of flaws with this process. One is that the screen is creased where the retaining ring is crimped over it. The other is the spot weld process embrittles the screen. We pushed on the screen of new OEM pickups, and several popped wire strands, without a lot of effort.
Being known for making the best Subaru Performance Oiling Products money can buy, addressing this was right up our alley. Of course, our own spin of improvements, besides the obvious had to be made to assure set it and forget reliability that comes with our products. A means for improving performance was taken advantage of during the design process as well.
The obvious big change is the tube has no bend. No bend means no restriction, and even better coming from the OEM tube because it uses a more restrictive pinch bend. The ID of the tube has been increased, and so has the thickness. The angle of the tube points it directly at the inlet into the block. Like our EJ engine Ultimate Oil Pickup this one too uses a screen to match the OEM spec opening size of the mesh. Although, we use a higher strength screen material. The screen area has been increased over 31% which reduces the restriction and stress on the screen. Our screen is lightly pressed and welded into place assuring the wire does not gets stresses or heat damages. TIG welding throughout assures proper weld penetration and quality. The material is 4130 Alloy Steel to further provide an increase in strength over the brazed stamped steel OEM version. The units have been pressure tested to 150psi over the face of the screen without issue.
• Tube features larger inside diameter and thicker wall for increased flow capacity and strength.
• No bends provide maximum flow potential (OEM unit uses a restrictive punch bend).
• Screen flow area increased by over 31% to improve flow, reduce restriction.
• Made from 4130 High Strength Alloy Steel for never fail reliability
• Hand TIG welded
• Made in the USA
Mishimoto CVT Transmission Cooler
The CVT transmission in the 2015+ Subaru WRX is an impressive system, providing smooth and seamless gear changes with the pull of a lever. However, overheating the transmission fluid can cause early component failure, especially for those interested in racing their WRX or even towing a small trailer. Mishimoto has just the solution for any high-stress situation you can throw to your CVT-equipped WRX. Mishimoto started by placing a large 19-row oil cooler in the front of the vehicle, where it gets the most amount of airflow. The Mishimoto oil cooler kit is designed to work with the stock transmission cooler, creating a system that is ready for any challenge. When installed, the Mishimoto engineers put the transmission cooler through a series of rigorous tests, including driving the vehicle, fully-loaded with occupants and supplier, up a steep grade to measure the efficiency of the 19-row oil cooler. Mishimoto engineers saw consistent 20°F (6.7°C) drops in transmission fluid temperatures, with temperature decreases even during normal driving. If you drive your CVT WRX hard on the racetrack or street, the Mishimoto CVT Transmission Cooler is a must! Mishimoto engineers thought of everything with this simple and easy-to-install kit.
