Project Blackout – Winter Engine Build Part 2

Picking up where we left off. Here we see the Garrett GTX3076R with the custom Blue powdercoated Compressor housing and the turbine housing removed showing the turbine wheel.

And all put together with the TiAL Stainless Steel V-Band turbine housing which we sent to Swaintech to have their “White Lightning” ceramic coating.  This coating is one of the best, if not the best, on the market.

Fast forward a little to when the turbo and engine went back into the car, definitely a great placement for showing off this big snail!

Here we get a good angle of the Tial 44mm MV-R Wastegate

We used heavy duty high quality AN fittings wherever we could, and this touches back on using the best complimentary products when doing builds. Hose and fitting failures  are often the main causes that lead to down time on a car.  This little beauty is a Jiffy-Tite dry-break fitting to allow us to switch fuels quickly.  Why you ask?  Because #Racecar

Here are various uses of the AN fittings

Here you can see the custom mounted Radium Engineering Fuel Pressure Regulator set-up with Fragola Performance AN Fittings and Hose.

We also converted the Moroso Catch Can inlets and outlets to AN Fittings so we could clean up the installation and it also makes it a bit easier for removal if needed.  Just below you will see the Radium Engineering expansion tank which we added as the factory piece no longer fit with the rotated turbo kit.  While it serves a similar function to the factory expansion tanks it also has a swirl pot built in which helps to de-aerate the coolant or water.

Here’s the engine complete and ready to hit the Dyno

As always, generally the best, highest quality solutions are also the best looking as well. It is undeniable that quality parts speak for themselves in the visual aspect.

Part 3 we will hit the Dyno so remember follow this space!
