Radium Engineering Air Oil Separator AOS-R Kit


High-powered modified 4U-GSE and FA20A engines tend to generate excessive blow-by oil and gasses. In these cases, an ordinary small catch can may quickly fill with oil and not be adequate. Like the Radium Engineering Dual Catch Can Kit, the AOS (Air Oil Separator) kit is responsible for keeping blow-by oil and other pollutants out of the intake pipe, manifold, turbocharger, and intercooler during all engine loads. The main difference is that an AOS system returns what is collected back into the oil pan (as shown below) so there is no servicing required. The built-in heater keeps water from condensing in the AOS. And because water is more dense than oil, there is an integrated water trap found around the bottom perimeter of the can. This prevents water from descending into the oil pan if ever-present. Furthermore, because the water is trapped against the heater, it will eventually boil and evaporate out of the system.


The AOS is constructed of three CNC machined sections that screw together and are sealed with O-rings.

NOTES:

*If operated in freezing environments, Radium Engineering recommends installing insulation sleeving (not included) over any hose exposed to cold airflow. This will help prevent the natural phenomenon of water condensation freezing and potentially clogging the hose.
*For RHD vehicles, our Universal AOS must be used for custom mounting and plumbing.

Killer B Ultimate FA20 Oil Pickup

The OEM pickup screen is crimped in a retainer and that assembly is spot welded into the pickup ‘can’. There are a couple of flaws with this process. One is that the screen is creased where the retaining ring is crimped over it. The other is the spot weld process embrittles the screen. We pushed on the screen of new OEM pickups, and several popped wire strands, without a lot of effort.

Being known for making the best Subaru Performance Oiling Products money can buy, addressing this was right up our alley. Of course, our own spin of improvements, besides the obvious had to be made to assure set it and forget reliability that comes with our products. A means for improving performance was taken advantage of during the design process as well.

The obvious big change is the tube has no bend. No bend means no restriction, and even better coming from the OEM tube because it uses a more restrictive pinch bend. The ID of the tube has been increased, and so has the thickness. The angle of the tube points it directly at the inlet into the block. Like our EJ engine Ultimate Oil Pickup this one too uses a screen to match the OEM spec opening size of the mesh. Although, we use a higher strength screen material. The screen area has been increased over 31% which reduces the restriction and stress on the screen. Our screen is lightly pressed and welded into place assuring the wire does not gets stresses or heat damages. TIG welding throughout assures proper weld penetration and quality. The material is 4130 Alloy Steel to further provide an increase in strength over the brazed stamped steel OEM version. The units have been pressure tested to 150psi over the face of the screen without issue.

Perrin Engine Oil Cooler Kit

Why Do I Want This?

In racing conditions engine oil temperature skyrockets. This causes decreased engine performance and reduces the oil’s ability to properly lubricate. A well designed engine oil cooling system like the PERRIN Oil Cooler Kit will help keep temperatures within the desired temperature range, thus maintaining performance and prolonging engine life.

Heat Exchanger

Each PERRIN oil cooler uses a Setrab core which maximizes heat dissipation without pressure build-up. Oil-ways are interspaced with airway corrugations providing optimum heat transfer, while the oil passages use “turbulators” to break down boundary layer effects in the oil flow.

Setrab Oil Coolers employ an in-line turbulator to gently stir the fluid being cooled, thereby ensuring that the fluid has exposure to the entire internal surface area of the oil cooler with the least pressure lost. The turbulators are fully brazed to the entire internal length of the tube resulting in zero heat transfer barrier and high strength.

Integrated Thermostat

The PERRIN Performance filter adapter features an integrated 85°C (185°F) thermostat. This means oil will not start flowing through the oil cooler until oil temps reach an optimum temperature of 85°C.

Oil Spacer

In addition to the OEM oil filter from Subaru, we include a PERRIN spacer which allows for easier installation of the thermostat-filter assembly.

Mounting Brackets

The PERRIN Oil Cooler comes with custom brackets that allow the cooler core to mount directly to existing holes in the OEM splash guard of your vehicle. Made from CNC machined 6061 T6 aluminum, the brackets look sleek and stylish while blending in seamlessly behind your bumper.

Preassembled Hoses

PERRIN’s FR-S/BRZ oil cooler kit uses lightweight Aeroquip brand -10 hose that is rated for 250psi and 300°F continuous temperature. Each hose consists of anodized -10 push-lock type aluminum hose ends. These fittings are designed to fit without the need for clamps, but we take the extra step and add a clamp ensuring they will never come apart. Unlike other kits that make you assemble your hoses, PERRIN preassembles them for you!

Verus Engineering High Performance Radiator

OVERVIEW

The Verus Engineering High-Performance Radiator increases cooling capacity well past the OEM unit while reducing the overall thickness of the radiator and fan shroud package. The radiator utilizes high-performance SPAL fans which ensure plenty of airflow vs. low profile fans.

This core was designed by PWR specifically for motorsport use and continues to be used in various racing series including F1, IndyCar, NASCAR, Tudor World Series, and Trophy Trucks to name a few.
